The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will temporarily shut their doors on Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day, a national holiday in the U.S.
In a statement posted on X on Sunday, the diplomatic mission confirmed the closure, assuring the public that normal operations would resume the following day.
“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day. We will resume normal operations on Tuesday, February 18, 2025,” the statement read.
Presidents’ Day, marked annually on the third Monday of February, is a time when the U.S. honors its past and present leaders.
While routine consular services such as visa processing will be unavailable, emergency services will still be accessible through designated contact channels.
Nigerians planning visits to the embassy or consulate for visa applications or other assistance are advised to adjust their schedules accordingly.
