The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has arrested o e Anthony Chidi at Mile 3 Market, Diobu, Port Harcourt, for allegedly producing and selling counterfeit alcoholic beverages under unhygienic conditions.I
n a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, NAFDAC revealed that Chidi was caught inside a dirty shop, where he was washing used bottles of various alcoholic brands and refilling them with unwholesome drinks for resale.
The agency stated, “NAFDAC has apprehended Anthony Chidi at Mile 3 Market, Diobu, Port Harcourt, for producing counterfeit alcoholic beverages in unsanitary conditions. He was caught inside a filthy shop washing used bottles of various alcoholic brands, which he refilled with unwholesome drinks for resale.”
During the raid, officials discovered a variety of materials used in the illicit operation, including dirty empty bottles, ethanol, bottle caps, and packaging materials.

Upon interrogation, Chidi admitted to running the illegal business for about a year. He also revealed that he sourced labels from Aba and purchased used bottles to continue his operation.

Following the discovery, NAFDAC evacuated the shop and confiscated all items found on site for further investigation.“
