Court approves Yahaya Bello’s trip for Lesser Hajj

ABUJA (CONVERSEER) – Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday gave the former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, the go ahead to take part in this year’s lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The judge, who ruled in an application filed by the former governor through his counsel, Joseph Daudu (SAN), ordered the court registrar to release his international passport.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is prosecuing Bello and two others for alleged N80 bilion fraud.

Daudu, in the application, told the court that the ex-governor has not travelled to Saudi Arabia  in over eight years.

The EFCC counsel, Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), did not oppose the application.

In his ruling, Justice Nwite approved the release of Bello’s passport for 10 days, from March 13.
