Students of the Federal College of Education, FCE Obudu today participated in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) demonstration exercise held at the Dr Joseph Wayas e-Library, marking a significant step toward the College’s transition to digital examinations.

The exercise, organised as a test run, is part of preparations for the full rollout of CBT examinations for General Studies (GSC) and Education (EDU) courses in the upcoming 2025/2026 academic session. The initiative reflects the College’s commitment to embracing technology-driven learning and assessment systems.

Despite the day being a public holiday, the Director of ICT, Mr Nick Agba, was physically present alongside his technical team to oversee the smooth conduct of the exercise. Their presence ensured that all systems functioned optimally and that any technical issues were promptly addressed.

Also present at the demo were key academic and technical stakeholders, including Dr Joseph Fatoba, Director of Academic Planning; Dr Joseph Ukashia, Director of Quality Assurance; and Mr Olisa, representing Zecoms. Their attendance underscored the importance the College places on ensuring quality, credibility, and technical efficiency in the transition to CBT examinations.

Speaking during the exercise, Mr Agba emphasised that the demo was designed to familiarise students with the CBT environment, reduce anxiety, and identify potential challenges ahead of the official examinations. He noted that the College is determined to provide a seamless and efficient testing experience for all candidates.

Students who participated in the demo expressed excitement and optimism about the transition. Many described the experience as user-friendly and appreciated the opportunity to interact with the system before the actual exams. For several students, it was their first time taking an exam using a computer, and they welcomed the innovation as a step in the right direction.

The successful conduct of the demo CBT underscores the College’s readiness to implement full-scale computer-based examinations. With the groundwork now laid, both staff and students appear well-prepared for the digital shift in assessment for the 2025/2026 session.
