The Cross River State Police Command has issued a public notice seeking to identify the owner of a bag recovered in Calabar after it was allegedly forgotten in a commercial minibus by a police officer.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the incident occurred on Friday, May 8, 2026, while the officer was reportedly travelling from Municipal to 8 Miles.
The Command disclosed that the driver of the minibus found the bag and responsibly handed it over to Hit FM, which later transferred the items to the Police Public Relations Department pending identification and collection by the rightful owner.
Items recovered from the bag include a black backpack, mobile phone accessories and charger, power bank, belt, tablet/iPad pouch, tactical belt/strap, clothing materials, and other personal effects.

The Police Command called on Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, heads of formations, and officers within the Command to circulate the information to assist in locating the owner.
“The Command kindly calls on all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Heads of Formations, and officers within the Command to assist in circulating this information to enable the identification of the rightful owner of the recovered bag,” the statement said.
The Command directed any officer with useful information regarding the recovered property to contact the Police Public Relations Department at the State Command Headquarters, Calabar, through the telephone line 07067977330.
Police authorities added that claimants would be required to provide proper identification and satisfactory proof of ownership before the items could be released.
The Command also commended the honesty and civic responsibility demonstrated by the commercial bus driver and the management of Hit FM for ensuring the safe recovery and transfer of the property.
