The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday conducted its party primaries across the 329 wards in the state, as aspirants contested for the party’s ticket ahead of forthcoming elections.
In ONNA Local Government Area, the primaries were held peacefully across all 12 Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wards, with party faithful turning out in large numbers to participate in the exercise.
Among the aspirants who contested for the party’s flag for the House of Representatives seat were the incumbent member representing Eket Federal Constituency, Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, Dr Judith Ogbara, and frontline aspirant, Dr Eunice Thomas.
At the end of the exercise, Dr Eunice Thomas emerged victorious in what supporters described as a landslide victory across the wards in ONNA LGA.
Speaking during the exercise, the political leader of ONNA Local Government Area and former member representing Eket Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Pat Ifon, commended the people of ONNA for turning out massively and conducting themselves peacefully throughout the primary election.
He also appreciated Governor Pastor Umo Eno for providing what he described as a peaceful and conducive atmosphere for the successful conduct of the APC primaries across the state.
Addressing party members in Oniong West Ward 1, ONNA Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Emem Bob, who was accompanied by his wife, thanked party faithful for coming out in large numbers to exercise their franchise in an orderly and peaceful manner.
He noted that the turnout demonstrated the wide acceptance and growing support the APC enjoys within the ward and pledged continued commitment toward promoting the ideals of the party at the grassroots.
The Finance Commissioner further appreciated party members for voting massively for Dr Eunice Thomas in what he described as a keenly contested primary election for the House of Representatives seat.
According to him, Oniong West Ward 1 remains committed to delivering victory for all APC candidates in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
The outcome of the primaries has continued to generate excitement among supporters of Dr Thomas, who described the victory as a reflection of her popularity, grassroots connection, and acceptance among party members across ONNA Local Government Area.
