Idomi Man Found Lost in Ugep After Prison Release, Returned Home Safely

By Odey Ojeka

A man who was picked up in Ugep on Monday has been safely returned to his community after a brief investigation by traditional authorities.

The individual was identified as Macauley Eteng Eyong from Okóm, Idomi. According to reports, his father is a police officer of the rank of one star, posted to Akpet Central.

Eyong was detained in Ugep after his movement raised concerns. He was immediately taken to the Palace of the Obol Lopon of Ugep, Paramount Ruler of Yakurr LGA, for questioning.

He told palace officials he had just been released from prison and got lost while trying to make his way back to Idomi.

After reviewing his account, the Obol Lopon of Ugep and Paramount Ruler of Yakurr, Obol Ofem Ubana, directed that the case be handled peacefully and lawfully, without pressure or rumours.

Military officers stationed in Ugep were then notified and took custody of the man. They were instructed to ensure he reached Idomi safely.
