SaharaReporters gathered that the incident occurred on Monday night when the armed men stormed the community and reportedly opened fire sporadically before abducting Gesha.
The victim is said to be a well-known businessman and philanthropist in the community.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, a security source, Bakatsine identified Gesha as the victim and said the attack had left residents deeply shaken, with growing concerns over the safety of people living in the area.
According to Bakatsine, “Last night, bandits reportedly stormed Gubuchi community in Makarfi LGA of Kaduna State, shooting sporadically and abducting Alhaji Rabo Gesha, a prominent businessman and philanthropist in the community.”
The latest attack has created fears among residents, particularly over the growing threat of night-time attacks and abductions in communities across Kaduna State.
Residents are now anxiously awaiting the safe return of Gesha, while concerns are mounting over the ability of security agencies to prevent armed groups from invading vulnerable communities at night.
“Prayers are with Alhaji Rabo Gesha and his family. We hope he returns home safely,” Bakatsine said.
The attack has also renewed questions about the continued insecurity confronting rural communities, where residents are often left vulnerable to armed attacks, killings and kidnappings.
“How long will communities continue to live in fear of night attacks and abductions before something decisive is done?” Bakatsine asked.
