…says monarch’s declaration to Ladi Adebutu shows true ‘Omoluabi’ leadership
A group, Yayi Students Vanguard (YSV), has hailed the Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof.) Adeyemi Obalanlege, for his courageous and truthful declaration on the collective resolve of Ogun West to produce the next Governor of Ogun State in 2027.
In a statement issued after the visit of Hon. Ladi Adebutu, the PDP governorship candidate, to the palace of the Olota, the group said the monarch has demonstrated rare integrity and leadership worthy of emulation.
YSV noted that during the visit, the Olota clearly described such engagements as consultations ahead of the 2027 elections, while emphasizing the need for sincerity in politics.
The group lauded the monarch’s illustration that if two children of the same mother enter a room to deliberate and come out pretending to have agreed without truth, such a meeting is meaningless.
The Olota, while receiving Hon. Adebutu, had explained that Ogun West has embarked on extensive consultations across Ijebu, Remo, and Egba, with one central message – that Ogun West, after over 50 years of the creation of Ogun State, is yet to produce a governor.

James Olanose said the Olota was statesmanly in acknowledging Adebutu as a son of Ogun State whom Ogun West could not reject or chase away, yet remained firm that the collective decision of Ogun West monarchs and stakeholders is to produce the next governor from Yewa/Awori in 2027.
The group particularly commended the Olota for his Omoluabi principle where he declared: “I cannot deceive you. It is not worth it to lie to you. There is one thing Yoruba people call Omoluabi.”
Olanose said this statement by the Olota reaffirms that monarchs of Ogun West cannot collectively agree on a direction and then betray the trust of their people by abandoning it.
The group stressed that the determination of the Yewa/Awori people to produce the governor this time is resolute, rooted in history, equity, and the quest for inclusion in Ogun State leadership.
“We in Yayi Students’ Vanguard salute Kabiyesi, the Olota of Ota, for laying it bare to Hon. Ladi Adebutu. His message is unequivocal and historic – Ogun West has made its decision, there is no going back on the YAYI Project and the collective aspiration to produce the next governor from Ogun West,” the statement read.
The group warned against any attempt to destabilize the united front of Ogun West, adding that the zone’s stand remains sacrosanct.
