The Obubra Chapter of IBOE (Ikom, Boki, Obubra and Etung), a political mobilisation movement within the Cross River Central Senatorial District, met today 23rd October, 2026, at the residence of the political leader of Obubra LGA, Chief Alex Irek, to reaffirm its commitment to the movement and formally adopt the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The meeting reaffirmed the chapter’s resolve to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and secure an overwhelming victory for Governor Bassey Edet Otu across the two federal constituencies within the district, the home of the PDP presidential candidate. Members also resolved to deliver Oden Ibiang Ewa for the Senate, Dr. Blessing Egbara and Hon. Victor Abang for the respective federal constituencies, as well as all APC candidates contesting the State House of Assembly seats within the two constituencies.

In a clear declaration of electoral ambition, the chapter expressed its determination to work towards an APC 5/5 victory, underscoring its commitment to the unity of the party.
The leaders urged the IBOE leadership to remain faithful to the movement’s founding ideals while safeguarding the interests of all four participating local government areas. They also dismissed suggestions that IBOE was established to divide Cross River Central, maintaining that the movement is rather a platform for cooperation, political engagement, and collective advancement, not division.

Beyond electoral matters, the Obubra people expressed concern over the delayed commencement of renovation work at the permanent National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Obubra. The leaders called on Governor Otu to expedite action on the project, warning that further delays could heighten the risk of the camp’s permanent relocation, with serious implications for Obubra’s development and economic prospects.
Goodwill messages were received from the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh; the group’s leader, Hon. Samuel Neji Abang of Ikom I, Hon. Kingsley Ntui Isong of Etung; and Rt. Hon. Hilary Bisong of Boki II.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening IBOE, consolidating APC support, and pursuing a united front for the participating LGAs ahead of the 2027 general elections.
