Alia promises prompt response to security challenges in Benue

by Editorial Team

in News

The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, on Saturday assured the people of the state, particularly those in the Kwande and Ukum Local Government Areas, of proactive and prompt response to security challenges.

He gave the assurance in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Tersoo Kula, in Makurdi.

The governor appealed to those protesting over security challenges to remain calm as his administration was working relentlessly to restore enduring peace in the state.

He expressed concern over the incessant attacks on the Kwande and Ukum communities by assailants and wondered why the LGAs have been consistently attacked despite the relative peace recorded in other parts of the state.

Alia assured the people that the activities of the assailants and their collaborators would soon become history.

He said: “I share your pains, and I assure you that we will step up our response and prompt, too. The remorseless barbarism of these assailants and their sponsors will soon be a thing of the past.”

He sympathised with the victims of the recent attacks in Kwande and charged the security agencies to give the state their best.

The governor warned those using his name to stir controversy in Kwande and other areas of the state to be wary of the potential consequences of their actions.
