A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, High Chief Higgins Peters, has congratulated James Alicha, the new acting chairman of the party in Cross River State.

This was disclosed on Monday when Alicha paid a courtesy call to Higgins on Monday in Calabar, in the course of engaging with critical party stakeholders across the state.

In his remark, the Acting Chairman said his confidence was reinforced in the party by the level of statesmanship displayed in a trending social media interview that High Chief Higgins granted that was circulated on Sunday, 25 February 2024.

Alicha called for support from all relevant party platforms and stakeholders to enable him and his team to bring the APC in the state to a formidable and winning path that will bring back the confidence of all party members and stakeholders even as he and his team has a scheduled appointment with the National Secretariat of the party for a briefing on the events in the state.

On his part, High Chief Higgins congratulated the Acting Party Chairman of the APC, charging him to reach out to all stakeholders and to make sure he brings back the lost glory of the party.

Higgins advised the Acting Chairman to learn from the mistakes of his predecessor that caused the party so dearly.

The Chieftain further called on the State Government under the leadership of Governor Bassey Otu and all the security agencies to support the Acting Chairman as he resumes office.

He said the security agencies and the government should listen and support the yearnings and actions the people have taken democratically to restore the party.

Converseer reports that the former state party chairman, Alphonsus Eba was suspended from the party and Alicha was appointed the acting chairman.
