The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has set up a National Campaign Council made up of highly placed members to storm Osun State for the governorship elections slated for August 16, 2026.

The council has among others Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodimma as well as former acting national chairman of the party and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni.

This was disclosed in an official notice released signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru.

The council will be headed by Uzodimma with three prominent Co-Chairmen: Buni Akpabio and Abbas.

Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, will serve as Deputy Chairman, while Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, takes on the role of Council Secretary.

In a statement issued on Monday, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka emphasised the party’s deliberate effort to unite top-tier leadership from across the country to secure a victory at the polls.

“The council comprises eminent party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state legislators, and other key stakeholders drawn from across the country to drive the Party’s campaign towards victory,” Morka stated.

The party has also set up 12 specialised sub-committees to cover critical operational areas, including Election Planning and Management; Finance and Resource Mobilisation; Contact and Grassroots Engagement; Security; Media and Publicity; and mobilisation arms for youths, women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The inauguration of the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees is to take place on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in Abuja.
