Army Headquarters Department of Civil Military Affairs holds sensitisation workshop for troops of 9 BDE, 35 Arty BDE and Nigerian Army Training Schools

A Team from AHQ DCMA, led by the CCMA, Maj Gen NC Ugbo, held the sensitisation workshops for NA personnel at 9 Bde Ikeja, 35 Arty Bde Abeokuta and Nigerian Army training schools within Lagos from 21st to 25th May 2024.

The CCMA was received by the various Comds at the different locations.

In his opening remarks, the CCMA stated that the workshops were designed to enlighten personnel on proper conduct during operations and routine activities.

He also stressed that the workshops were tailored towards ensuring that troops carry out their duties according to international best practices and standards.

He further stated that the conduct of the workshops was in line with the COAS Command Philosophy as it was geared towards training of personnel in order to achieve professionalism and efficiency whilst carrying out their duties within a joint environment.

The first lecture titled; “Understanding the Applicable Rules during Military Operations” which covered the provisions of International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law as they affect the conduct of armed conflict was delivered by Maj L Jatto (Rtd).

The second lecture titled ‘’The Proper Conduct of the Nigerian Soldier within the Larger Nigerian Society’’ was delivered by Lt ID Obarien and significantly dealt with the establishment of the Armed Forces, Roles of the NA, Fundamental Human Rights under the 1999 Constitution as amended, DHQ Policy on Social Media and establishment of the Civil-Military Legal Desk/Call Centre.

At the end of the lectures, personnel asked questions to clear their doubts during the interactive sessions.

The workshops ended with the presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
