The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a 24-hour power outage that will affect parts of Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Borno, Adamawa and Taraba states.
The company explained that the move would allow it to undertake critical maintenance on its transmission network.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, TCN said the outage is necessitated by the installation of Optic Fibre and Ground Wire (OPGW) on the 330kV Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Single Circuit Transmission Line at the Bauchi 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation.
According to TCN, the maintenance exercise is scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, and end at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
It stated that during the
period, the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) will not receive bulk electricity from the national grid for distribution to customers.
TCN disclosed that electricity supply will be disrupted in Bauchi, Gombe, Damaturu, Maiduguri, Yola, Jalingo and surrounding communities throughout the duration of the exercise.
It explained that the work is part of efforts to strengthen its transmission infrastructure and improve telecommunications capability on the grid.
The company assured customers that normal electricity supply would be restored immediately after the installation is completed and apologised for the inconvenience the planned outage may cause.
