The Nigeria Police Force has launched an urgent fundraising appeal for Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Oyadele John, an officer attached to the Mobile Police Force (MOPOL) 22, Ikeja, Lagos, who is currently hospitalised at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) following an on-duty accident.
According to a police wireless message dated August 20, 2026, obtained by SaharaReporters, Oyadele, Force Police Number AP/No. 154023, sustained injuries on July 5, 2026, while performing a special duty in Osun State.
The message, issued by the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), MOPOL Force Headquarters, Abuja, and circulated to various MOPOL formations, said subsequent medical examinations revealed that the officer had developed a serious neurological condition, with blood reportedly found in his brain.
The condition allegedly resulted in a partial stroke, leaving him in need of urgent medical treatment.
The police said Oyadele requires N8 million for what it described as life-saving medical treatment and appealed to personnel across the various formations to make voluntary donations towards his care.
The directive was contained in a communication referenced CD:1000/DOPS/PMF/FHQ/ABJ/VOL1/
The police directed all Commanding Officers (C/Os) of the various formations to personally coordinate the fundraising exercise.
“C/Os are to personally coordinate this effort,” the message stated.
It further directed that all donations be collected and remitted to the designated account of the Provost, MOPOL.
The account details provided in the police communication are: Account Number: 1742205341; Bank: Polaris Bank; Account Name: CSP Ojo Temitope Samson.
Personnel were also directed to forward payment receipts through the official email of the AIG Police, MOPOL, and via WhatsApp/GSM number 08065571876 for proper documentation.
Emphasising the urgency of the officer’s condition, the police directed that contributions be made on or before September 4, 2026.
The wireless message stated: “AP/No. 154023 ASP Oyadele John attached to MOPOL 22 Ikeja is currently hospitalized at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, following an on-duty accident on 05/07/2026 while on special duty in Osun State.”
It added: “Medical examinations revealed a serious neurological condition, with blood found in his brain, leading to partial stroke.”
The police further appealed to personnel to “send in voluntary donation to assist the above-named officer,” stressing that the fundraising should be treated as a matter of urgent importance.
