Hon. Robert Effiong Hogan has been appointed as the Acting Chairman of Calabar South Local Government Area, following the death of the Chairman, Hon. Esther Bassey on Thursday.
CONVERSEER reported that Hon. Esther Bassey, the immediate past Local Government Chairman of Calabar South died after being rushed to the hospital.
“She was complaining of a stomachache when she slumped. She later died after being rushed to the hospital”, a reliable source said.
A letter of notification signed by Orok Bassey Okon, permanent secretary, on behalf of the deputy governor, Prof. Ivara Esu on Friday, 24th February 2023 to Hon. Robert Effiong Hogan directed that he takes over with immediate affected.
The letter which copied the Head of Local Government Administration, Calabar South Local Government stated: “I have the directives of His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, to inform of your appointment as Acting Chairman, Calabar South Local Government.
“Your appointment is with immediate effect and empowers you to assume full executive powers as Chairman of Council, pending your formal oath-taking to be “administered when His Excellency, the Governor, shall be available to do same”.
Until his appointment, Hogan was the Vice Chairman of the Calabar South Local Government Area.
