A High Court in Accra has granted a police assistance order authorising UK-based Cola Holdings Limited and its appointed Receiver, Nii Amanor Dodoo, to take possession of Nana Kwame Bediako’s No. 1 Oxford Street Hotel in Osu following a multimillion-dollar debt dispute.
The court’s decision comes after Cola Holdings sought to enforce its security interest over the luxury property in connection with an outstanding debt exceeding US$14.9 million.
The claim was recognised by the court as part of ongoing efforts to recover the amount owed.
According to the company, attempts to take possession of the hotel through peaceful means were unsuccessful.
As a result, it applied to the High Court for police assistance to enable the Receiver to lawfully assume control of the property.
The court subsequently granted the request, authorising the Ghana Police Service to provide the necessary security and support to facilitate the Receiver’s takeover of the hotel in accordance with the law.
The development marks a significant escalation in the legal dispute surrounding the high-profile property, which is associated with Ghanaian entrepreneur Nana Kwame Bediako. The hotel, located in the upscale Osu area of Accra, is regarded as one of the capital’s prominent hospitality establishments.
