The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Rashid Afegbua, on Friday, has appointed CSP Titus Udofia as the Commander of the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), in line with the ongoing reform directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
According to ASP Sunday Eitokpah, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, the establishment of the VCRU is aimed at strengthening intelligence-led policing, enhancing tactical operations, and ensuring swift response to violent crimes and emerging security threats across Cross River State.

The appointment followed a rigorous screening and training exercise for selected personnel of the Unit, supervised by the Commissioner of Police alongside members of the Command Management Team.
CSP Titus Udofia, who enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on 1st February, 2005, is a seasoned and highly resourceful officer with extensive operational and protective policing experience. He has served in several strategic capacities, including:
1. Unit Commander, 32 PMF Abakaliki, where he led several operations in Borno and Plateau States;
2. 2i/c Unit Commander, 32 PMF;
3. Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State;
4. Commander, Quick Response Squad (QRS), Akwa Ibom State;
5. Commander, SPU Base 27, Onna;
6. Chief Security Officer to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State; and
7. Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Cross River State.
The Commissioner of Police charged the newly appointed Commander and personnel of the Unit to uphold professionalism, discipline, integrity, and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.
