The Cross River State Commissioner for Commerce and Chairman, 2024 Trade Fair steering committee, Dr. Abigail Duke Orok has unveiled plans for the rebranded Cross River Trade Fair after 10-years.

The event which is scheduled for November 15th – 26th 2024 would be held at the U. J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar

The Commissioner made this known on Thursday during a Press briefing at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre, State Housing, Calabar

“This fair provides a crucial platform to break the silence surrounding trade and commerce, which are vital for our economic landscape,” Orok stated.

The theme for this year’s fair, “In Support of Our Shared Prosperity,” reflects the event’s core objective: to foster a multi-sectorial trade promotion and networking environment, she said.

“We want to create opportunities for trade, business, and investment in our state,” Orok stressed, adding that the fair will also serve as a market for new products and a bridge to new markets.

She noted that one of the central tenets of the fair’s is the alignment with the annual Calabar Christmas Festival as “the timing allows exhibitors to participate in both events, enriching their experience and providing diverse offerings for attendees.”

Enumerating the fair’s focus, Dr. Orok pointed out that it aims to showcase Cross River’s industrial, commercial, and agricultural potentials while attracting investment opportunities, particularly through a Public-Private Partnership model.

“Our goal is to not only promote the sale of goods and services but also to enhance the overall economic frontiers of Cross River State,” she said adding that the target participants will include local and international businesses, foreign embassies, and state governments across various regions.

The fair is being organized in collaboration with several stakeholders, including the Calabar and Ikom Chambers of Commerce and the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME). “Their involvement is crucial for a successful turnout,” Orok remarked.

“We need your support to showcase the best offerings of Cross River State to the world,” she urged the press, emphasizing that their involvement is essential for the fair’s success.
