Former Manchester United star, Nicky Butt, has named the club’s signing of Youri Tielemans for £35m from Aston Villa as the ‘best signing of the summer’ ahead of the new 2026/27 Premier League season.
Manchester United have signed several players, including Tielemans, Andrey Santos, Karl Darlow, Kit Margetson, Cristian Orozco and Tynan Thompson to bolster manager Michael Carrick’s squad this summer.
However, Butt believes the Red Devils have already secured the signing of the summer after they bought Tielemans, who played for Belgium at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and also for Aston Villa in the Champions League last season.
“I think Youri Tielemans is the best signing of the transfer window,” Butt said on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast.
“Looking at his fee, his age, his experience – he’s played in the Champions League and World Cups, and he is a great footballer. I think that is a brilliant signing for Manchester United.”
