Ex-Bakassi detainee urges FG to open Calabar Seaport or conduct referendum for South East, South South

A former Bakassi detainee and frontline separatist leader, Princewill Chimezie Richards, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria led by President Bola Tinubu to conduct a referendum for the people of the South East and South South as the government has failed to revive the seaports in the region, as well as treating the people as third class citizens.

Richards stated this on Monday while addressing newsmen in Calabar, Cross River State capital, adding that his warnings do not come empty.

The separatist leader, who said he commands loyalists who listen to him and are daredevils, pointed out that “Calabar had the first seaport and a historical town where colonial masters settled. Igbos were also sold during the slave trade through Calabar,” insisting that Lagos does not have any historical record.

Speaking on the nationwide protest, Richards said that the northerners had showcased their agenda of wanting a Russian invasion and Russian rule but they don’t speak for the Igbos and other sections of the country.
