OBUDU (CONVERSEER) – History was made today, 23 January 2024 when Dr Richard Ugbaha Utubaku, Provost of the Federal College of Education, FCE Obudu in Cross River, commissioned the FCE Obudu Table Water Factory.
The Provost was accompanied to the event by his entire Management team.
A cross-section of the College Community which comprised all the staff Unions on campus, the student Union Government of the College, the staff as well as some business operators within and outside the College were also on the ground to witness the epoch-making event.
It has to be recalled that successive administrations had muted the idea of establishing a water factory in order to beef up the internally generated revenue base of the College.
However, the idea could not be realised due to some obvious hiccups.

The narrative however changed when Dr Utubaku assumed office as Provost. He walked the talk as he immediately appointed an astute administrator in the person of Dr Ashipu Igbo as the Director of Consultancy Services.
Without pleading lack of funds as an alibi, the new Director sourced ingenious ways to fund the project. Dr Igbo specifically said that the factory was funded through the proceeds from the sales of serap items in the College.
He said he was motivated to work hard on the project in order to leave an inspiring legacy before he left the service of the College. He promised to be prudent in the Management of the new business outfit.
In his own speech, the Provost noted how the idea of establishing a water factory in the College had been aborted in the past.
He, therefore, thanked Dr Igbo and his team for driving the new initiative to the end. He enjoined the Management of the outfit to be prudent and remain accountable.
He pledged his continued support for the success and smooth operations of the factory. He encouraged everyone to patronise the new business.
After the commissioning, the Director of Consultancy Services, Dr Ashipu Igbo conducted the Provost and other principal officers on a guided tour of the facility.
