Police in the Volta Region have launched an investigation following the death of a headteacher who was found lifeless in a guesthouse in Akatsi.

The deceased has been identified as 44-year-old Mr. Selorm Kwaku Tettey, popularly known as “TK,” who served as the headteacher of Glikpome Basic School in the Akatsi South Municipality.

According to reports, Mr. Tettey was discovered dead on a bed at the Joli Bebe Guesthouse on Tuesday after a housekeeping staff member entered the room and found him unresponsive.

The worker immediately alerted the area’s assembly member, who subsequently informed the Ghana Police Service.

Eyewitnesses indicated that preliminary observations at the scene revealed no visible signs of physical assault on the deceased’s body, leaving the exact cause of death unclear.

During their examination of the scene, police recovered several items, including a mobile phone, canned malt drinks, and other personal belongings believed to belong to the deceased.

The recovered items have been taken into police custody as part of ongoing investigations aimed at establishing the circumstances surrounding Mr. Tettey’s death.

Authorities are expected to conduct further forensic examinations and await the outcome of a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
