Jigawa Reports N5 Billion Loss Due to “End Bad Governance” Protests

The Jigawa State Government has revealed that properties worth N5 billion were destroyed during the nationwide “End Bad Governance” protests in August 2024.

Chairman of the fact-finding committee on the protest, Barrister Bello Fanini, disclosed this while presenting the committee’s report to Governor Umar Namadi at the Council Chambers of the Government House in Dutse on Tuesday night, Jan. 21.

Fanini, who is also the state’s Commissioner for Justice, revealed that the damaged properties included assets owned by the federal, state, and local governments, as well as private individuals.

He added that the committee had provided a series of recommendations aimed at preventing similar occurrences in the future.

In response, Governor Namadi commended the committee for their dedication and assured them that the government would thoroughly review and implement their suggestions.

He also emphasized the importance of safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
