Man City to Announce Abdukodir Khusanov Signing on January 20

MANCHESTER – Manchester City are set to officially unveil Abdukodir Khusanov as their newest signing on Monday, 20 January, following the completion of a €40 million transfer from Ligue 1 club RC Lens earlier this month.

The Uzbekistan international defender, aged 20, has reportedly signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Premier League champions.

Khusanov is expected to bolster Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad for the remainder of the season and beyond.

Having arrived in Manchester from Paris last week, the player has undergone medical tests, finalised contract documentation, and posed for photos alongside City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain. However, the club has yet to make an official statement.

Reports indicate that Khusanov has already started training with the squad, paving the way for a potential debut in Manchester City’s UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday. Additionally, it has been revealed that he will wear the number 45 shirt.

Meanwhile, Manchester City fans are also anticipating the announcement of Brazilian defender Vitor Reis, who recently completed a £29.5 million move from Palmeiras. The club is also nearing the signing of Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for €75 million.

City’s spending this January could rise further, with the club exploring options for a new central midfielder. Juventus’ Douglas Luiz is among the reported targets, provided financial terms align.
