MTN Nigeria has announced the commencement of entries for Season 2 of its Next Afrobeats Star (NAS) reality music competition, following the success of its debut edition, which discovered and rewarded emerging Nigerian music talent.

Produced in partnership with Ultima Studios and ONErpm, the competition returns with an expanded prize package to discover and nurture the country’s next Afrobeats sensation.

Speaking on the launch, Emamoke Ogoro, General Manager, Brands and Communication at MTN Nigeria, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians by providing platforms that transform talent into opportunity.

She noted that contestants from the maiden edition not only gained national exposure but also released original songs on major global streaming platforms while retaining ownership of their intellectual property.

This year’s winner will receive a ₦225 million recording deal covering music production, marketing, distribution and accommodation, in addition to a brand-new car. The first runner-up will receive a ₦150 million recording deal, while the second, third and fourth runners-up will receive recording deals worth ₦100 million, ₦75 million and ₦50 million, respectively.

Contestants will be mentored and judged by renowned music producers Puffy Tee, Ragee, Andre Vibez and Masterkraft, who will help identify and develop the next generation of Afrobeats stars.

Chief Executive Officer of Ultima Studios, Femi Ayeni, described the competition as more than a television show, saying it serves as a credible pathway into the music industry by providing structured support, investment and career opportunities for emerging artists.

Entries opened on July 18 and will close on August 17, 2026. Interested participants can register by sending NAS to 13013, after which they will receive a link to complete their registration and upload their audition entries. A registration fee of ₦600 applies.

Regional auditions will be held in Lagos, Jos, Enugu and Benin, with successful contestants advancing to the live stages of the competition, where the eventual winner will be decided through public voting.
