The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has formally handed over the Digital Industrial Park (DIP) and Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) facilities to the Enugu State Government as part of efforts to accelerate digital transformation and strengthen the state’s technology ecosystem.
The handover ceremony, held on August 4, 2026, at the Enugu State Government House, was presided over by Governor Peter Mbah and the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida.
The development marks a major milestone in the partnership between the Federal Government, through the NCC, and the Enugu State Government to promote digital innovation, technology skills development and industrial growth.
Also present at the ceremony were the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Professor Chidiebere Onyia, and the Secretary of the NCC, Mr. G.T. Mohammed.
The transfer of the facilities is expected to support Enugu State’s ambition of becoming a leading digital economy hub in Nigeria by providing infrastructure for technology training, innovation and digital entrepreneurship.
Governor Mbah’s administration has identified technology and innovation as key drivers of economic growth, employment generation and sustainable development in the state.
With the facilities now under the management of the Enugu State Government, the state is expected to leverage the infrastructure to expand digital skills development, address the technology talent gap and provide greater opportunities for young people and technology-driven businesses.
The initiative also highlights the potential for stronger collaboration between federal agencies and state governments in driving digital development beyond major urban centres.
The NCC-Enugu partnership is expected to contribute to the growth of the state’s digital ecosystem while creating an enabling environment for technology-led businesses, innovation and industrial development.
As Nigeria continues to deepen its digital economy, the handover of the Digital Industrial Park and Digital Bridge Institute facilities is another step towards empowering local communities with the infrastructure and skills required to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
