The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Command has successfully apprehended a 75-year-old man, Nuhu Baba, in a major operation in Tumbau Village, Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, said the operation resulted in the recovery of a variety of illicit substances, including Tramadol, Cannabis Sativa, Diazepam, Exol-5, and Rubber Solution.
“Upon investigation, Nuhu Baba confessed to the authorities that he had been engaged in this illicit trade for the past two years as a means of sustaining his livelihood,” the statement read.
“His case underscores the alarming reality of drug trafficking and abuse, which affects individuals across all demographics, including the elderly. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive nature of substance abuse within communities.
“The State Commander, CN AI Ahmad, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to combating these challenges and emphasized the importance of community involvement in the fight against drug trafficking.
“The NDLEA Kano Command continues to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking.”
