The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has said it would be on the Streets of Calabar and other major towns in the State from August 1 to 11, 2024 for a solidarity rally in support of good governance at both Federal and State levels.
Chairman of the party in the State, Barr Alphonsus Ogar Eba, who said this in Calabar, Wednesday, said the federal government was doing everything within its powers to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians.
He said the hard times, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy, would pass away and submitted that but the subsidy removal had generated good revenues to coffers of government to embark on numerous impactful projects.
“I believe that in no distant time, the current suffering would be the thing of the past,” he stated.
Eugolising Governor Bassey Otu for showing leadership in all fronts, Barr Eba said “for the government which has recently coughed out N10 billion to pay gratuities, paid WAEC fees for students, provide infrastructures, create atmosphere of peace and security, amongst, it needs to be encouraged and not vilified.”
According to the party chairman, the solidarity rally would cover the entire stretch of the 12 km carnival route, noting that the party had already applied to the Commissioner of Police for permit.
He warned protesters to stay off the route of the solidarity rally to avoid finding themselves in the hands of law enforcement agencies.
“On August 1, we shall embark on solidarity rally in support of government at all the States and local government Secretariats and across major Streets and squares. Sensitization of youths and students shall hold at respective State’s squares on achievements of the President and the Governor. We shall meet with all APC support groups on August 3, 2024,” he stated.
The Chairman enumerated other activities to include inter-denominational prayers, engagement with traditional and religious leaders, engagement with market women, NURTW, drivers amongst many other groups.
