The Grand Egyptian Museum (The GEM) is the world’s largest and newest museum.

Main attraction on the main floor is the colossal statue of Ramsis II. The Statue of Ramesses II is a 3,200-year-old figure of Ramesses II, depicting him standing.

It was discovered in 1820 by Giovanni Battista Caviglia at the Great Temple of Ptah near Memphis, Egypt. It was made from limestone and weighs 83 tons. This statue was built to celebrate the victory over the Hittites in the Battle of Kadesh in 1274 B.C.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is an archaeological museum in Giza, Egypt, about 2 kilometres from the Giza Pyramid complex. The Museum hosts over 100,000 artefacts from the ancient Kemet civilisation, including the complete Tutankhamun collection.

Many of the artefacts were displayed for the first time. With 81,000 m2 (872,000 sq ft) of floor space, it is the world’s largest archaeological museum. It was built as part of a new master plan for the Giza Plateau, known as “Giza 2030”.
