The Nation Newspaper’s Nsa Gill emerges Cross River NUJ Chairman

The Correspondent of The Nation Newspaper, Comrade Nsa Gill has emerged as the new Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ in Cross River State.

Gill, CONVERSEER reports emerged as the State Council Chairman of the NUJ on Saturday, July 16, 2022, after polling a total of 76 votes to defeat his opponent, Comrade Oka Ibor of the Cross River State Newspaper Corporation, (Nigerian Chronicle Chapel), who polled 50 votes.

Others who emerged winners include Archibong  Bassey of the Nigeria Television (NTA) and Solomon Azu, Group News Editor of the Nigeria Chronicle (Chronicle Chapel) who emerged Secretary with 64 votes while defeating Jude Okoro of The Sun Newspaper who polled 59 votes.

Those who went into the race unopposed include the Vice Chairman, Florence Kanu; Treasurer, Achiane Adams and Assistant Secretary, Kingsley Agim.

A total of 148 delegates were accredited, 128 delegates voted and 3 votes were declared void.

the Vice  President of NUJ, Zone F and Zonal Secretary, Opaka  Dokubo and John Angese while announcing the winners declared Nsa Gill as Chairman of the NUJ, Cross River State Council and others who were returned elected.

The newly elected Chairman, Gill, in his acceptance speech, vowed to move the Union forward while assuring members of proper welfare, harmony and complete transparency.

Gill replaces Comrade Victor Udu as Chairman of NUJ, Cross River State whose tenure ended about a month ago.
