Kumawood actor Michael Afranie has divulged what prompted his decision to withdraw from actress Selassie Ibrahim’s REFFA festival float.
The float was graced by numerous Kumawood actors and actresses such as Bill Asamoah, Christiana Awuni, Mr. Beautiful, just to mention a few.
Surprisingly enough, actor Michael Afranie was absent from the float, even though it took place in Kumasi, where he stays and performs almost all his activities.
Speaking in an interview about why he decided not to take part in the float, Michael Afranie stated that he wasn’t invited and therefore saw no sense in attending.
The actor claims the actors and actresses who were captured at the float not only get paid, but received good treatment, revealing that they slept in luxurious hotels and enjoyed other benefits.
“I didn’t join the float because they didn’t invite me. The fact that they organized it in Kumasi doesn’t necessarily mean I should attend uninvited”, he said.
He added “Didn’t they come to Kumasi by flight? And, didn’t they sleep in luxurious hotels? The actors and actresses who showed up, weren’t they paid? Why would they book a flight from Accra to Kumasi without any payment?”
Meanwhile, the actor claims “I don’t have any problem with her REFFA festival because I feel it projects the industry and makes the works keep going”.
Even though he wasn’t tickled by not getting an invitation, he said “But the treatment that is between Accra and Kumasi is very bad. We are all stars, but she chose to invite some and left some”.
