Trailer Crash Destroys Goods Worth Millions in Calabar Trailer Destroys Shops with Goods Worth N10m in Calabar

A heavy-duty trailer has reportedly destroyed shops with goods worth over N10 million in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State.

According to Triumph Newspapers, the accident occurred on Tuesday night at Hausa Quarters (Bogobiri) in Calabar Municipality.

Eyewitnesses said the trailer reportedly suffered brake failure, causing the driver to lose control before the vehicle rammed into several shops in the area.

According to residents, the trailer smashed into three shops belonging to rice and beans traders, as well as two other provision and herbal medicine shops, leaving goods and property badly damaged.

Good Samaritans were seen helping shop owners evacuate damaged goods and debris from the affected shops after the incident.

One of the eyewitnesses at the scene said: “It was a big trailer that lost its brakes and went out of the driver’s control before crashing into the shops. Though no life was lost, goods worth over N10 million were destroyed.”

Victims of the accident declined to comment when approached by journalists, saying they had “left everything in the hands of God.”

Residents recalled that a similar incident occurred at the same location last year, when another vehicle reportedly rammed into a shop due to brake failure.
