We Must Keep Ndidi at Leicester — Van Nistelrooy

Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has made it clear that the club will not allow Super Eagles star Wilfred Ndidi to leave during the current transfer window.

The 28-year-old midfielder has been linked with potential moves to Monaco and Atletico Madrid, with both clubs reportedly interested in a loan deal that includes an option to buy.

Ndidi is currently making progress from his hamstring injury, and has not played since December.

Speaking with the BBC, Van Nistelrooy emphasized Ndidi’s importance to the team, both as a player and a person.

When asked about the possible departure of the Nigeria international, the new boss said: “No, of course not!”

He continued: “Wilfred is a key player and person in the squad and in the club, and I’m glad he is nearly there to help the team again.

“We know how much we’ve missed him, and we know we need him. Wilf is key in the coming months, a key part of this team that can get us out of this situation.”

Ndidi, who joined Leicester City from Genk in January 2017, has contributed three assists in 15 league appearances for the former Premier League champions this season.

Leicester City are currently 19th in the 20-team Premier League, having picked just one win in nine league matches, losing seven and drawing one.

The Foxes face Tottenham Hotspur in their next game London this Sunday.
