A 38-year-old Cherubim and Seraphin prophet, Abimbolu Oliwafemi, has been arrested for allegedly dfiling a 14-year-old girl. The mother of the victim had approached men of the Ijebu Igbo divisional police station that the cleric had deceived her into believing he could perform a spiritual bath to prevent future misfortunes but instead, he reportedly sexu@lly ass@ulted her daughter by a river in the afternoon around 2:00 PM. The Ogun State Police Command’s gender department quickly apprehended the suspect and arranged for a medical examination at Medicare Hospital in Ijebu Igbo, providing necessary documentation for evidence collection. Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the command, CSP Omolola Ofutola, said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances that allowed a self-proclaimed prophet to engage in unlawful relations with a minor, whose mother is also a member of his church, which has a congregation of about one hundred. Responses gathered from the child’s mother during the police inquiry highlight her apparent lack of awareness and naivety, as she entrusted her daughter’s care to a deceitful prophet.
