Florida, U.S. – A young lady, Shania Baptiste, who allegedly stole from an elderly woman, lands in Florida and immediately gets chastised by the local sheriff.
Receiving Baptiste in Daytona Beach following her arrest in New York, Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood, said the suspect and her co-defendant swindled one of the residents out of over $35,000 in a fraud scheme.
However, the suspects who used fake Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes to scam the victim were appended by the NYPD Financial Crimes Unit.
Speaking at the airport, Sheriff Chitwood said “She [Baptiste] and her co-defendant swindled one of our residents out of over $35,000 in a fraud scheme.
“We’ve got to thank our Financial Crimes Unit for a great job and the NYPD Financial Crimes Unit who helped us locate this scumbag and her co-defendant.
“And now we’ll bring her back here where she’s headed to the happiest place on earth, the Branchdale. She won’t be meeting Mickey, I can tell you that.”
On meeting Baptiste, Chitwood told her that, “I want to let you know that we protect our seniors in this community, okay? That’s why you’re here.
“And I hope and pray there’s a special place in hell for you and Nielsen Brooks for what you did to an 85-year-old woman in stealing her life savings. And I hope you enjoy your stay here. Welcome to Florida.”
When a reporter asked Baptiste if she did have any regrets now that this was all happening, the suspect said, “No.”
Converseer reports that Baptiste is facing felony charges of fraud and grand theft.
