President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted an extension to the tenure of Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), recognizing her leadership and the progress made under her watch.

Mrs. Nandap, a seasoned immigration professional who began her career with the NIS on October 9, 1989, was initially appointed by President Tinubu on March 1, 2024, with her tenure set to conclude on August 31, 2025.

However, in a statement released on Monday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, revealed that the President has now extended her tenure until December 31, 2026. This decision, according to Onanuga, is a direct result of the “significant advancements” witnessed within the Nigeria Immigration Service under Nandap’s direction.

Onanuga elaborated, noting that under Nandap’s leadership, the NIS has “witnessed significant advancements in its core mandate, with notable improvements in border management, modernisation of immigration processes and national security measures.”

President Tinubu’s approval of the extension signifies his confidence in Nandap’s ability to continue driving positive change within the service. “President Tinubu commended the Comptroller-General for her exemplary leadership and urged her to continue dedicating herself to the Service’s strategic priorities, which align with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda,” Onanuga stated.

The President also took the opportunity to “reaffirm his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Immigration Service in fulfilling its mandate to protect Nigeria’s territorial integrity and promote safe, legal, and orderly migration.”
