Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday met with ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo at the presidential hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Atiku was accompanied on the trip to Obasanjo’s home by former Governor of Cross River State, Liyel Imoke, and his Sokoto State counterpart, Aminu Tambuwal.
However, the agenda of the meeting has been made public.
But the gathering may not be unconnected with the ongoing moves by opposition elements and disenchanted members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to kick out the ruling party from Aso Rock, the country’s seat of power, in the 2027 general election.
Atiku, 78, was defeated by President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
The elder statesman in 2024 refused to rule himself out of another shot at Nigeria’s highest political office when the citizens go to the poll in 2027.
