Greek model schools continue to outperform in university entrance exams, with six of the top 10 highest-scoring schools in the country being model institutions, according to Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis in an interview with the Greek edition of Kathimerini.
Pierrakakis stated that the success rate in university entrance exams stands at 81% for model schools, 72% for private schools, 66% for experimental schools, and 58% for other public schools.
Among the top 10 candidates in nationwide exams, three were from model schools, five from public schools, and two from private institutions.
The minister also announced an expansion of model and experimental schools, as well as the introduction of Onassis Public Schools, a project funded by a €160 million donation from the Onassis Foundation. These schools will prioritize local students and offer specialized programs in science, digital education and the arts.
Pierrakakis emphasized that the reforms aim to provide equal opportunities. Every child, he stressed, chooses their own path.
