Uyo, Akwa Ibom State – The image below has been trending recently on Facebook and captioned as recently constructed “Mini Stadium at Ikot Edibon in Nsit Ubium LGA of Akwa Ibom State.”
Claim
A Facebook user, Zeal Inyang Enoidem posted the photo at about 7:25 am on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, claiming it is a recently constructed mini stadium in Akwa Ibom State.
His post read:
“Observe the recently constructed Mini Stadium, situated at Ikot Edibon, Nsit Ubium LGA, Akwa Ibom State.
“Its aesthetic appeal is notable, however, I have identified a discrepancy in the original design plan.
“What specific design flaw can you detect?”
The image post has generated comments and reactions, with some believing it while others debunking it.
Frank Ulom: “This picture was posted 4 years ago by Football Manila and it’s not in Nigeria.”
Prince Charles Ekanem IV: “I really doubt this is true. I know this axis very well. I will even be there later this month.”
Austin D’iOrigo Gabriel: “This can’t be Akwa Ibom State bro, who dash Akwa Ibom hills.”
Essien Essien: “Nothing of this is at Ibom State.”
Even with the comment debunking that the stadium is not in Akwa Ibom, Enoidem still claims it is.
Verification
Our Reporter conducted a reverse image search on Google, and it turned out that a similar picture was posted in 2020, four years ago, by Football Manila’s Facebook page.
The page in its post, compared it to BGC Turf. Turf BGC is a Soccer field located at 8th Avenue, Corner Lane R., Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines.
Football Manila posted the photo on your August 5, 2020, at 23:41, and captioned it thus: “Better views at BGC Turf or here?“
However, Kristoffur Sorensen claimed “I’ve played at both, this is in my country, The Faroe Islands. Actually there are other pitches there with more stunning view,” in one of the comments.
Verdict
Converseer rates the claim by Zeal Inyang Enoidem as FALSE as the photo is not Mini Stadium at Ikot Edibon in Nsit Ubium LGA of Akwa Ibom State.
