Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved the release of ₦1.3 billion for the payment of bursaries to eligible students across the state.
The Governor also approved an increase in the bursary award from ₦20,000 to ₦50,000 per beneficiary, a move aimed at providing greater financial support to students pursuing higher education.
The approval reflects the State Government’s continued investment in education and human capital development, with the increased bursary expected to ease the financial burden on beneficiaries and their families.
The bursary scheme will cover eligible Akwa Ibom students in accordance with the established guidelines.
Announcing the approval, Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, said the initiative demonstrates Governor Eno’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and supporting the academic aspirations of young people across the state.
