An emotional incident involving a young woman from Mankessim has sparked widespread reactions on social media after she was abandoned in Kumasi by a man she had met online.
According to information shared in a viral video, the woman, who is physically disabled with a hunchback, travelled from Mankessim to Kumasi after a young man promised to help her learn a trade and improve her livelihood.
Believing his assurances, she made the journey with the hope of starting a new chapter in her life.
However, the situation took a heartbreaking turn upon her arrival in Kumasi. The woman explained that she called the man to inform him she had reached the city, and he initially answered the phone.
Moments later, however, he switched off his phone and became unreachable.
In the emotional video, the stranded woman is seen narrating her ordeal as concerned residents gathered around to comfort her.
Community members who came across her situation reportedly made several attempts to contact the man using his phone number, but all efforts proved unsuccessful.
The incident has generated sympathy on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing concern over the dangers of placing complete trust in people met online. Others have commended the community members who stepped in to support the woman during her difficult moment.
