Police Arrest 26-Year-Old Robbery Suspect, Recover Firearm in Calabar

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old male suspect, Daniel Saviour, in connection with an alleged case of armed robbery, assault occasioning harm, and unlawful possession of a firearm in Calabar, Cross River State.

According to a statement by ASP Sunday Eitokpah, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, on Thursday, the arrest followed a report lodged at Ikpai Omin Police Division on 26th April 2026 by a complainant, Gabriel, who alleged that the suspect confronted him over the whereabouts of his brother, Isaac.

The statement stated that, “The complainant further stated that while riding his motorcycle on the same date, the suspect attacked him with a machete, inflicting serious injuries on his hand before robbing him of his Q-Link 125 motorcycle and a Tecno 528 mobile phone.

“Acting swiftly on the report, operatives of the Division moved to the scene, but the suspect had fled before their arrival.

“In a sustained intelligence-led follow-up operation, operatives successfully tracked and arrested the suspect on 30th April 2026 in collaboration with military personnel stationed at Scanobo Checkpoint, Calabar.”

Exhibits recovered from the suspect include:
• One locally made pistol
• One dagger
• One machete
• One pen knife
• One short axe

“The suspect has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and comprehensive investigation. Efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen motorcycle and other exhibits connected to the case.

“The suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation,” the statement added.

The Cross River State Police Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the State.
