Two-term Assembly Member dumps PDP for APC in Cross River

A two-term member of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Wilson Ekpenyong, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Ekpenyong who recently resigned from the PDP, joined the APC at the weekend in Odukpani amidst cheers.

He was received by the Leader of the Cross River State House Of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Francis Asuquo; Chapter Chairman of APC in Odukpani, Mr Edem Anam; and the APC Zonal Special Leader, Chief Edet Asia, amongst others.

Speaking during the declaration, he said his action is informed by the “enormous transformation witnessed in the past few months of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu-led Government in the state, hence my decision to support him for more.”

Popularly referred to as Mr Show Working, the former Odukpani State Constituency representative reiterated his readiness to be committed to the success of the present-day administration in the state, suing for unity and cooperation to enable the Governor to deliver on his electioneering promises.

Asuquo, Anam and Asia, in their remarks, expressed joy in the return of Ekpenyong to the party to strengthen the party as a recognised political mobiliser.

The highlight of the event includes the presentation of the APC membership slip to Ekpenyong by the ward Chairman, Mr Ekpo Okon Ekpenyong.

The defection was witnessed by the Special Adviser on Sports Development, Mr Ekanem Ekpenyong; SA on Artisans Development, Mr Godwin Ndem; former APC State Publicity Secretary of the Party, Hon. Moses Akpatre; Apostle Iya Orok, Hon. Ikpeme Asia as well as members of the ward excos of the party.
