The visit of the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General for Political and Peace building Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, to Cyprus was announced by UN official Farhan Haq during a briefing at the organization’s headquarters in New York.
“On February 10, Ms. DiCarlo will meet with the Greek Cypriot leader and the Turkish Cypriot leader. They will discuss the way forward in preparation for an informal meeting in a broader format,” said the UN Secretary-General’s deputy spokesperson.
“Additionally, Ms. DiCarlo will focus on the work of the secretary-general and meet with representatives of civil society, including youth groups and women’s organizations,” Haq added. He also noted that after Cyprus, DiCarlo would travel to Athens and Ankara.
“Following her visit to Cyprus, Ms. DiCarlo will hold meetings in Athens on February 12 and in Ankara on February 13 for discussions on the Cyprus issue, as well as other significant regional and global developments,” he stated.
