Burkina Faso unveils 104 billion FCFA investment to boost agriculture

OUAGADOUGOU (CONVERSEER) – Burkinabe government has launched the 2025–2026 agricultural initiative in southwestern Bobo-Dioulasso, distributing substantial consignment of agricultural, livestock, and fishery inputs and equipment valued at 104 billion.

According to WAVN, the initiative is part of the government’s strategy to modernise farming practices and enhance national food production.

The support package includes 608 tractors, 485 motor pumps, 1,102 motor cultivators, 150 multipurpose grinders, and 10 sweet potato processing units.

Farmers nationwide will also benefit from 70,000 tonnes of mineral fertilisers and over 14,000 tonnes of organic fertilisers. To aid logistics and field supervision, the government is deploying 17 trucks, 36 vehicles, and 1,033 motorcycles.

In the fish farming sector, 935 floating cages have been distributed to farmers to boost inland fish production.

Livestock producers are set to receive more than 66 million doses of veterinary medicine, over 31,000 litres of crop protection products, and tens of thousands of tonnes of animal feed, including 11,169 tonnes of SPAI feed and 15,000 tonnes of plant-based feed.

Authorities emphasise that this investment is designed to increase productivity and ensure food security through modernised and intensified agricultural and fishery operations.
