The Ministry of Justice, Cross River State, celebrated its Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Barrister Anthony Okon Effiom, with the presentation of gifts and tributes as he marked his birthday and retirement after 33 years in service.

In their separate presentations, Barr. Simeon Abi, Director of Commercial Law, described him as a “lucky, calm, and gentle man,” noting that though he is retiring, he remains strong and not tired. He prayed for God’s blessings, favour, and protection upon him.

Barrister Sylvanus Inyang praised him as an active litigation lawyer who set a pace many admired. He described his emergence as a divine transition, stating that “God took their Elijah and gave them an Elisha,” in reference to his succession after former Permanent Secretary, Mr. Peter Bassey.

Other speakers highlighted his leadership, kindness, and ability to carry people along, offering prayers for continued guidance and success in his future endeavours.

In a toast, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Barr. Okoi Ukam, wished him good health, strength, long life, and success in his future pursuits as a politician and farmer.
