Google recently updated its Android page. While introducing the official SMS experience, it stated that Apple will provide RCS support for iPhone this fall.
In describing the advantages of RCS (high-resolution photos/videos, typing indicators and better group chat experience), Google mentioned that iOS devices will soon support RCS.
Apple has announced that it will adopt RCS in the fall of 2024. Once implemented, this will mean a better information experience for everyone.
An Apple spokesperson confirmed to TechRadar and 9to5Mac in November 2023 that it will adapt to support the Rich Communication Services/Converged Communications (RCS) standard next year.

Apple’s statement reads as follows:
Later next year, we will add support for the RCS common profile, a standard currently published by the GSM Association.
We believe that the RCS common profile will provide a better interoperability experience compared to SMS or MMS.
We believe that RCS and iMessage, used together, will continue to provide Apple users with the best and most secure messaging experience.
According to IT Home, after the iPhone supports RCS, RCS messages will still be displayed as green bubbles, while iMessage will be displayed in blue to distinguish them.
